This family. Are they not the cutest?! I actually photographed these shots a year ago & can still hear the little one saying, “Hi!” in her sweet little one year old voice. We had so much fun and their Christmas card last year was TO DIE FOR!

It has really been a beautiful white winter here in the suburbs of Chicago. I photographed this family two weeks before Christmas on a *gulp* 17 degree day. We were on their grandmother’s beautiful front porch and french doors opened to their warm living room, so the kids would take turns popping in & out of the house for their photos to be taken. I also learned they are a die hard hockey family, so maybe that is why they were so great in the cold? I just LOVE how they turned out. Winter photography is fun! I adore those warm smiles.

Now that the holidays are over, I can start showing some more photography & card design work I created for clients. Here’s the funniest card I’ve ever made. This photoshoot was… well…. difficult. I went head to head with an adorable 4 year old & LOST. Good thing his parents are great sports & happily decided to make “lemonade out of lemons”.
I showed the card to my own mom & she said it’s the BEST card ever as it shows real life. So true. It’s great when we can laugh at ourselves & make the most out of a situation. The shoot was in early December and started out at a beautiful park, but it was 13 degrees out. Even my hands hurt in the brief 5 minutes we were out of the car. I too would have had a meltdown. We had to brainstorm & come up with an indoor location and found a beautifully decorated tree to make it work. You guys are great fun & I look forward to next year already, in warmer weather 🙂
By the way, that top photo of the little man does not even truly capture the emotions he was expressing!

I woke up to MORE snow this morning {we are up to almost 8 inches & we shoveled 4 times yesterday & there is no stop in sight}, so I thought it would be a great day to share these beauties with you. I took these photos the week before Christmas & am realizing I LOVE shooting in the snow! This little guy is one of my favorite subjects to photograph as he has such a fun personality & beautiful eyes. This past Sunday I had the joy of doing my first photo session in the SNOW! The family was great & I love how the mom styled their clothing: simple solids & such a variety of color. I even got them to JUMP! The kids were total troopers. No complaints, just chills & some red ears (poor things!) I wish we could have hung out more so I could get to know each & every one a bit more, but we needed to get the job done. They were so fun though! 12 year old triplets!!!! a 10 yr old & almost 7 yr old. I think these parents are my super-heroes! And, little did I know when I designed this card over a month ago, I would get to use it with such PERFECT photos! Thanks to the “McB” family for braving the weather & having such fun with me!
