Scripture Art Giveaway {Philippians 4}

2013-10-30_0001

{Art available here}

Rejoice IN THE LORD always!

Note it does not say, “Rejoice in your circumstances or friends or money or house or job or status….” but IN the Lord for who He is and what He has done. This is my sunshine girl when she was 4 years old & it’s one of my favorite photos of her as she was so free & full of joy. She actually kept falling down the hill as she would lean so far back & it was a hilarious photo shoot. Now she is 8 & just wait till later in the week to see how she’s grown. So sweet.

Scripture Art Giveaway: Revelation 21 All Things New

2013-10-23_0001

{Art available here}

Behold! I am making ALL THINGS new.

What a verse full of encouragement. When I read it, I think of the redemptive power Jesus offers us, to make our lives new in Him. I also think of springtime & the buds, blooms, and birds’ nests full of new life. This little robin’s nest was sheltered on our cousin’s front porch {and the mama bird was so protective, they could not use their front door for a month lest she attack them!}

Meeting Jen Hatmaker {MOPS 2013 Convention Re-Cap}

2013-10-21_0001

{Art available here}

This past week I apparently was crazy. I got my family in the car to drive 9 hours to Kansas City to the MOPS Convention in the MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. What on earth was I thinking I would love to know. Well, for one I signed up in May or June, not thinking about the implications of a mini “vacation” in the fall.

Needless to say, we set up shop & I got to meet so many wonderful & encouraging people. One of the women I got to meet AND HUG was Jen Hatmaker. If you do not already follow her blog & buy her books, please do. You will be glad you did. Not only is she funny, sarcastic, & totally real, she is also passionate, godly, motivating & gifted. One of the things she spoke about was the above concept: giving our kids roots & wings. We are to guide them as they grow to be strong, brave & courageous disciples who will live out their faith, NOT in fear but in love & boldness.

After her message, I bolted to my booth, took down the above art, got in her author – signing line & was able to gift it to her.

Back in the spring when I started reading Jen’s blog, I decided to gift her Micah 6:8 as it seemed to be a theme of her life. Little did I know at the time that her hubby, Brandon, has that verse tattooed on his arm!2013-10-21_0003

And since she & her hubby have adopted 2 beautiful kiddos from Africa, I also gifted her this print.

So fun to be able to bless others.

Grace & Peace,

Julie

Off to the MOPS Convention!

2013-10-15_00022013-10-15_0003

We are loading up the minivan & heading to Kansas City tomorrow to set up shop for the MOPS convention! If you are there, please stop by & say “Hi”… there will be free gifts with every purchase… new art to show… fun to be had!

I am in booth 717 {next to the MOPS photobooth}.

I am really hoping to meet Beth Moore, Lysa TerKeurst, & Jen Hatmaker! Beth has my vintage sepia Fruit of the Spirit art my friend at Tyndale was able to get to her while she was there speaking. Jen Hatmaker has Micah 6:8 Words to Move You print & James 1:27 vintage sepia style prints.

There will not be a giveaway this Wednesday, since we will be on the road. Please pray for safe travels & good health. The 5 of us are going & the kiddos are over the moon to stay at their uncle’s house & play. I feel like I’m fighting a cold. OH, & I’m still NOT ready. Ahhh!

Grace & Peace,

Julie

Proverbs 3 Trust In the Lord {Scripture Art Giveaway}

2013-10-09_0001{Color Art Available HERE}

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.

I do not know anyone who does not need this verse plastered on their walls. I have had it in my bathroom for years, so that first thing in the morning when the “to-do” list or the “what-if” list starts to race through my mind, I can meditate on truth & give Him my day, my thoughts, my worries, and my circumstances which are so often beyond my real control anyways.

Some things to think about in this verse which is so commonly used, but go ahead & dig deeper:

“Trust in the Lord” … what does it really look like to trust the Lord? To me, it is often surrender of my own control & opening my hands & letting go.

“With ALL your heart” … how do we trust Him with ALL of our hearts? I think about completely, fully, and not wavering back & forth, but really choosing to depend on Him. This is very hard to do consistently, but as we keep our focus on Him & His love & goodness, it gets easier.

“lean not on your own understanding” … what does it look like to REALLY lean into God’s way, His will, and His wisdom? I think of a verse in Isaiah which talks about how His ways are higher than ours; they are beyond us & often times we can look back on a situation and much later see the reasoning or the fruit or the growth, but in the moment we are called to walk by faith & trust in Him. I also think of the book of James which talks about heavenly wisdom vs earthly wisdom and how we lean into His wisdom not our own.

“in ALL your ways acknowledge Him” … do you acknowledge God in ALL areas of your life, or only a few? Do you bring God into your relationships, your use of time, your finances, your health, your home, your life choices? When pondering a decision, do you think about what would bring glory & honor to God or what His Word says about the situation?

“& He will make your paths straight” … what are straight paths? Especially when we are hurting or when the circumstance does not always turn out in our favor? I think about my path leading straight into the arms of Jesus. He is where I find straight paths; not confusing or meandering ones, but a straight path with a purpose, a mission, an end point or goal.

The image for this passage was easy. To show a path was a must, but what I really loved was the bench where I just picture you resting in His presence, soaking up the peace and joy of the surrounding despite circumstances.

No matter what our situation may be, I pray we all live out this verse steadfastly.
